Book bus

What is the Book Bus?

  • Your ELS subscription includes core stock on long term loan and the opportunity to refresh this selection annually, either during a Book Bus visit or through delivery
  • These books encourage reading for pleasure. They are mostly fiction, with some non-fiction and poetry available
  • We will contact you during the year to arrange a visit, but if you would prefer a certain time or to swap your books through delivery, let us know by email or phone

Making the most of your Book Bus visit

  • The visit lasts 1.5 to 2 hours -  plan to make sure you have time to get every class out
  • Publicise the Book Bus visit - email staff or post details on noticeboard
  • Decide who will choose the books - we cannot accommodate whole classes in the time, so we recommend a small group of pupils (max 6) from each class (must be accompanied by an adult)
  • Feel free to take pictures of children enjoying the #BookBus—tag us on Twitter @CheshireELS!

 Finding ELS books to swap

  • Books with ELS stickers on the spine belong to ELS
  • Many of these will be project loans you order online for the term
    • These are delivered to you with a receipt and should be returned by the end of term with one of our drivers
  • Core stock you exchange on the Book Bus does not come with projects, and you can keep it for up to 5 years
  • If you can’t find any core stock to swap, don’t worry—our librarians will allocate you a number of books for your class
  • You can exchange up to 300 books on a visit
